I dont get these kids, they have obviously never taken a programming class, let alone a game design course. All trademarks are property of their respective owners in the US and other countries.I believe everything that can be has been squeezed out of gamebryo, as is apparent from how fallout 4 practically looks no better than skyrim from 2011 (doesnt play much better either, but at least its not running out of memory anymore which is a big improvement, perhaps the only one) This game engine is antiquated and buggy to the point where you have to develop and maintain it yourselves. This game engine is so bad you would probably be better off writing a new one from scratch than continuing to use it, but why not use the work already done by others in Unreal Engine, or hell id Tech id Tech cant be worse than this, and you practically have it in-house already since youre under the same publisher.
All the shiny graphical features added to fallout 4 over skyrim (which were already added to skyrim via mods) were already readily available in unreal engine 4 and cryengine out of the box (and a lot more) not to mention theyre much more stable and theyre even cross platform now, imagine that (or is that thought horrid to bethesda Dont think I havent noticed how id software all of a sudden stopped its cross platform support when they were bought up by bethesda softworks, i hold you responsible) Just give up on this dying dog and move on to something more modern or face disappointment when TES VI wont be quite as popular as TES V. Fallout 4 is already being called out in reviews for being a game because of all its bugs. Bugs that sometimes may date all the way back to morrowinds time. This game engine is now far behind everything else, deal with it, stop being so ing attached to dead software. I dont care if you switch to Unity or a no-name engine like BigWorld (World of Tanks) just. ![]() Amazing, another person talking trash on the steam forums, who doesnt even own the game on steam. Stable as in doesnt crash to desktop anymore (because it has access to enough memory for the first time since Oblivion) Its still buggy as. Gamebryo Engine Free Pass FromMind you that when most developers make games this buggy, people rage at them, its like bethesda gets a free pass from many people because their bugs are so bad they are actually funny. Can you even take deep-seeded RPG mechanics from something like that and simply place them within Unreal or CryEngine Your right, the bugs have gotten too old by this point. The engines you mentioned are great for relatively simple games. I always wondered if the fairly laggy performance of Ark on high end machines was down to the fact its the first game of that sort of depth scale built on Unreal tech. Unreal in particular is one of the most moldable engines around, next to Source. Also, Deep-Seeded isnt how Id describe the RPG mechanics in FO4. Hell no, theyve been getting simpler with ever ygame, theyve been changing with every game, theyre not deep seated and Im sure they can change them again in a different engine. I think the real kicker is their modding tools, porting that to a different engine will probably be the biggest challenge.
